SPILEF_tree of knowledgeSPILEF project is funded by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (H.F.R.I.) since 18.12.2019 and with a project duration of 36 months.

SPILEF project is mainly concerned with the exploration of the multifaceted efficiency of the knowledge generation processes and innovation activities. We adopt a technology heterogeneity context which allows the consideration of spillover effects. Furthermore, special attention is attributed in the relationship of the efficiency of innovation and knowledge generation activities and business performance. The project is developed around the following objectives:

  • To undertake ambitious research to address gaps in the evidence base relating to innovation, performance, and productive efficiency of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs)
  • To enable firms and policy-makers, through engagement, to gain timely access to robust evidence based research facilitating effective planning and decisions
  • To provide challenges and opportunities to new researchers to develop their research capacity and to work in country specific economic and business themes.

The analysis brings under the same roof, both high-edge quantitative techniques with qualitative approaches. Although the focus is on Greek SMEs, the information used is expanding both internationally and at the aggregation level, to investigate effectively the knowledge flows and innovation interactions. The project is structured in six work packages which although interlinked, they exhibit a significant level of autonomy reducing the risks of failure in some first-stage activities.

SPILEF project hosts researchers originated from economics and management of innovation, microeconomics and economics of efficiency and productivity, as well as Computer & Informatics disciplines. One of the primal interests of the SPILEF project is the engagement with innovation stakeholders through dissemination activities from day one of the project. Our ambition is to keep the SPILEF alive and fruiting beyond the period of financial support.
